Are You Entitled to Claim Disability Benefits?

If you are disabled and that disability hinders you from working, you may be able to claim benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

An essential factor that needs to be given attention in claiming disability benefits is that you must prove you are severely disabled preventing you from doing any gainful activity for at least a year or your disability may cause your death. Determining if your claim is valid rests on the shoulders of medical experts under SSA’s employ.

The Social Security Administration has set these standards in establishing what is “disabled.” One, if you are earning $700 a month or more, then you are not disabled. Also, if your condition does not interfere with your work, your claim will be denied. The SSA maintains a list of disabling impairments and if your condition is not on that list, they will have to determine if your condition affects your capacity to work. If you can no longer do the work you used to do, SSA tries to see if you can do any other kind of work taking into account your age, education, past experience and transferable skills. If you cannot work, you will be considered disabled.

Application for disability benefits entail and in-depth interview from an SSA representative. Topics that will be touched include applicant’s disability, medical history, leisure time activities, and financial status. Several application forms will have to be filled-up by the applicant as a proof of his intention of claiming disability benefits.

Completion of all the requirements does not necessarily mean that your application will be approved. A caseworker from SSA and a caseworker from the state Disability Determination Service (DDS) will have to determine if your claim is valid and recommend a decision regarding the status of your application. If your application is approved, your SSI benefits will include cash payments at a minimum of $579 per month for an individual or $869 per month for a couple (2005). Your state may supplement this amount. The federal amount is adjusted in January of each year, depending on the U.S. cost of living.

You will also be eligible for Medicaid, food stamps, rehabilitation, and home care if necessary.

However, not all applications are approved. Fact is two out of three persons who apply for disability benefits are initially rejected. What you can do is make an appeal for reconsideration of your case. Appeals have a good chance of winning provided that your disability is indeed valid.

His most popular photo has about 1000 copies in print. The price range of these photos, depending on condition goes from $5,000 to $175,000 if you can find one.

Moving from outdoor photography of landscapes to nude women on beaches we have the works of Jock Sturges. Sturges was born in the big city of New York in the year 1947. He currently lives in Seattle, Washington. His most popular images, all of beach nudes, are “Misty Dawn 1991″ and “Northern California, 1991″. His prints range in price from $1,000 to $3,000. Penn worked for some of the most popular magazines of our time including Harper’s Bazaar, Saks Fifth Avenue and Vogue Magazine.

Another great photographer, who most people have actually heard of, was the one and only Helmut Newton, who just recently passed away in 2004. He was most known for photos involving fashion and nudes illustrating themes of mass media, glamour, sex and theater. Newton’s work was often categorized as bizarre. He was once quoted as saying “My job as a portrait photographer is to seduce, amuse and entertain”. He most certainly did that better than just about anyone else. His most popular image is “Sie Kommen I, II”. His photographs are in such demand that some go for as much as $400,000 each.

The list of famous photographers goes on, literally forever. So if you are thinking of joining the ranks of these greats and many others, then you’re going to have to work hard at your craft.

Always Carry Your Camera

I was walking to the local store the other day. It was cold, wet and overcast and I felt pretty miserable I can tell you. I was on a mission to buy something from the store and to get home as quickly as possible. Nothing else was on my mind.

Then, I passed a construction site. There was a flurry of activity - diggers and cranes on the move. Nothing special and I didn’t take too much notice. But, then I caught sight of a couple of workmen - they were wearing bright yellow jackets and red hard hats - moving some rubble by hand. They looked cold, wet and engrossed in their work. The backdrop to all this was a large and partially constructed building.

I was impressed by the colours of the workmen’s attire and the contrast with the damp weather and the greyness of the partly built structure. It would have made an interesting photograph. It would only have taken me a few seconds to capture it and the light was reasonably good so I would not have needed either a tripod or flashgun.

But, I didn’t have my camera with me and I lost the shot.

I have a number of cameras, one of which is a Canon A60 - a camera that is small and fits neatly into my pocket. I remember telling someone that they should always carry a camera, even on short errands. I failed to do so and lost an opportunity.

Silhouette Photo Tips and Techniques

Many photographers probably have stared at a silhouette image and pondered to themselves how exactly it had been taken and composed. Silhouette images could contain a couple looking at a sunset, a cityscape with the sun shining through buildings, or just a normal horizon. In order to get an effective silhouette image, a photographer must be in the right place at the right time and have the right exposure settings.

-Silhouette Definition

In the area of photography, a silhouette is defined as an outline that appears dark against a light background. More specifically, it is where your subject appears as a plain black shape against a brighter background. It is an artistic photography expression that many photographers like to refine and perfect in their images. This effect can be achieved with any bright light source with the sun being the most common. In a sunset silhouette photo, the sunlight in the background is exposed correctly forcing everything else in the photo to be underexposed causing the effect.

-Silhouette Techniques

When you are preparing to take a silhouette image, there are many things to keep in mind. These tips are equally effective for both digital and film photography. First of all, you need to make sure that there is not too much light on your subject, even if it is being reflected on to your subject the stray light will ruin the effect. If there is not enough light in the background, your subject will appear grey instead of black. The effect is just multiplied when you have multiple colors of bright lights in the background. Some photographers focus on artificial lights, others focus on the sun at certain times of the day, the possibilities are endless.

-My Silhouette Tips and Techniques

I usually take my silhouette images when the sun is just above the horizon. I prefer the time around sunset because the sun causes the sky to be brighter than everything else for greater contrast. Another technique I use is to align the sun directly behind the subject so it causes a glow effect around the main subject. I usually use a relatively big subject so it creates a more drastic effect then a small insignificant subject.

I always use a narrow aperture (high f/stop) so the camera captures the whole scene with a high depth of field so everything is in focus. I usually use the aperture manual mode on my camera so I can control what the aperture will be and then the camera automatically selects the right shutter speed necessary for the photo. If you are trying to create the effect with a point-and-shoot camera make sure you compose the photo with the background light by pointing the camera at the background. If you compose the image by pointing the camera at your dark subject, then the background will be over-exposed and you will not end up with a silhouette.

There is no exact science to taking a great silhouette image. It will take practice, luck, and experience to capture truly amazing silhouette images. So keep practicing.

Changing Jobs for the Better

My family had about had it with my work routine. I would get up a little before the kids, and be out the door before they were awake. Because of the commute, I barely got to kiss them goodnight before they were asleep. it was not worth the salary, so I had to make a change. I found an online job that appeared to be some kind of affiliate marketing opportunity. It seemed a bit too good to be true at first, but before I knew it, I was working. I did not plan on it coming so easily, but it did, and I am so happy.

My job never felt right for me. I was told by a number of personality tests that I was a born salesman, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get into making sales calls. I finally found something that made sense in the world of marketing. It was an affiliate marketing opportunity, though a company that my cousin worked for during the last few years. Affiliate marketing uses referrals and sales to various websites to give commision based salaries to those that do the marketing work. This work has come easily to me, and I feel very fulfilled in my job.

High School Love

The first time that you fall in love is one of the best experiences that you can have in your life. I can remember feeling in love and not thinking about anything else in the world. School and family thought disappeared. The only thing on my mind was my boyfriend. I loved him. Everyday I would wake up and think about him. So many things that had to be done in order to show him how much I truly did love him.

I picked him up everyday before school and drove him there. We shared a locker together and we took as many classes together as possible. When we weretogetherI felt beautiful and wonderful.Looking back it was too much. There was no balance in my life. My grades suffered and my relationship with my family was not the best. Without balance I ended up wanting my happiness to come from my boyfriend without realizing that he is not responsible for my happiness, I am. I became too attached and this pushed him away from me. We ended up breaking up and it was very hard on me. I did learn something from it and that is what you are supposed to do with life experiences. Balance is something that I practice everyday now and I don’t place too much of my time and energy on one person or thing. Diversify my thoughts and feelings to keep it equally distributed so that everyone can have great days.

How Safe Are You and Your Family Online?

What do the following five online activities have in common?
1. I download and swap music files

2. I visit chat rooms
3. I play online games
4. I buy and sell on eBay
5. I’m researching my family tree

They are not only five of the most common activities that people do online they are also potentially the most dangerous as they expose you to the real risks posed by scam artists, stalkers and worse that look for new victims each and every day.

Are you truly aware of the hidden dangers that lurk online waiting to strike at the unwary? I’m prepared to wager that you’re not. It’s far more likely that you’ll be as blissfully unaware as everyone else perhaps with that mix of ignorance and arrogance that “nothing can happen to you” that makes you an ideal victim!

Perhaps you also think that online security is a bit of an urban myth that has been blown out of all proportion by the media and companies selling security software. Unfortunately, there is a world of stalkers, scam artists and even terrorists working to their own agenda and that agenda includes you or your family.

Luckily, there’s something you can do about it right now - but first let’s look at what really lurks behind these seemingly innocent activities.

1. I download and swap music files
If you’re caught in the culture of the internet that is a grey area at the best of times and you think that “everything online should be free” and that there’s “nothing wrong with peer-to-peer networks” you face some real dangers and not from record companies looking for royalties!

As soon as you step into such a grey area you put yourself more at risk then normal because the scammers and fraudsters know that you can’t really complain without revealing your own illegal behaviour. The same is true of cons linked to dubious websites as they know you’re vulnerable.

The nature of such networks is equally worrying as they permit anyone to connect to your computer with the aim of swapping a music or video file. If you look at it as the equivalent of leaving your front door open to the person delivering a pirated DVD and you should become more alarmed.

The truth is that many people often get more then they bargained for as viruses and spyware can also be included with that new track.

These can cause you untold problems with the worst being one’s that you only find out about when it’s too late. It’s only when the letters start arriving from the bank that you discover that a trojan or spyware has copied everything you’ve typed, including your user name and passwords to every account you’ve accessed and sent them unseen to the hacker who is busy stealing your identity and running up huge debts in your name.

2. I visit chat rooms
You face several dangers when you enter public chat rooms. Not everyone will be who they seem to be and some have extremely distasteful agendas such as recruiting people to their cause, propaganda and stalkers.

Stalkers are not the figment of the imagination of an over zealous media they do exist and target the vulnerable online. They hide behind several identities that they have carefully crafted to select and test their victims. These are not only children that they are grooming for abuse but also adults that are threatened, conned, blackmailed and manipulated into handing over financial information.

If that wasn’t enough there are also representatives from what most would consider to be sick sites in chat rooms and on forums recruiting more to their cause. These include political groups of both extremes, religious groups including fronts for terrorism and well deviants such as “pro-ana” sites that teach young impressionable girls that “being thin is more important that being healthy”!

3. I play online games
Playing games online may seem a harmless activity but it’s that impression that can put you at risk as you will be off your guard. Game downloads can contain spyware, especially those to unlock pirate copies and stalkers inhabit gaming chat rooms.

4. I buy and sell on eBay
There are the obvious problems of eBay where trust in a buyer or seller can sadly be misplaced including a recent case when a gang stole huge amounts of money from thousands of bidders by demanding payment in cash or electronic cash transfer and then sent nothing in return.

You are also open to many more dangers. You will receive false or “phishing” emails claiming to be both from eBay and Paypal suggesting that if you don’t check your details immediately your account will be frozen. If you fall for this con that is carried out on an industrial scale you could not only give away your account details but also your credit card number as well.

5. I’m researching my family tree
Carrying out research in your family tree can make you incredibly open about personal information. Details such as your mother’s maiden name and previous schools are common and invaluable to an identity fraudster looking to open or access an account in your name.

What can you do about it?
There are two things that you should do today to protect yourself, your family and your computer.

1) Go to www.911stalkers.com or www.999stalkers.com and take the free test to fully evaluate how clued up or clueless you are about online security. You can either download it as a free ebook and then email it to your friends or you can do a version online via a link at the top of the page. It is vital that you open your eyes and see the true dangers that you face each and every time you are online.

2) Do something about it. Naturally, I’d suggest my ebook Scams, Stalkers and Online Security that uses 14 real life case studies to highlight the problems and then provide step-by-step practical solutions that everyone can follow. If you decide to buy that or find your own solution then please ensure that you and your family are safe online. Doing nothing is not an option.

The Broad Targets & Effects of Spyware

Spyware and its endless threats to internet users can strike in numerous ways; penetrating areas users thought were secure and untouchable. Recently, a day trader logged into his TD Waterhouse online account and found his account was nearly empty. The cause was a keylogger. The perpetrator had sent a message inviting investors to test a new stock charting tool.

Anyone who wanted to participate in the testing was sent a link to download and install. The download was actually a keylogger that found and recorded usernames and passwords keyed into the infected computer.

The intruder was charged with fraudulently accessing an individual’s computer and executing security transactions. The transactions amounted to nearly $50,000. Owner of the spyware software SpyCop said this example of keylogger intrusion is one of many that occur regularly, especially with spouse tracking each other.

Keyloggers have the capability to record everything you type into your computer. The information they can gather may be your credit card number, social security number, username, password and more.

Once a spyware application such as keyloggers has your information it is often sold or sent straight to the intruder who will use it for identity theft or fraud. Programs such as SpyCop are able to detect and remove current spyware infections. Once your system is clean SpyCop has features that will actively protect your computer from spyware while you surf the internet.
