Individual hospitals will now be able to recover the costs and decide where they want to reinvest that money to improve services they want.”

In response to this a spokesperson for the Institute of Directors said: “Businesses pay tax which pays for the NHS, so why should it pay again for treatment? I was reading an article in the Guardian the other day. Essentially, the article argues that students do not like academic interference in their Facebook and MySpace accounts. As a law student at uni, I staunchly disagree with this conclusion. For one, the article erroneously supposes that uni students want a strict division between their social life and their academic life. This is simply not true. Ask any uni student who has written a last minute essay at the local pub or who proudly displays their admiration of the great Justice Kirby will see that if anything, Facebook is a great melting pot of all aspects of a uni student’s life. Research carried out by the Joint Information Systems Committee claims that uni students simply want academics to “Get Out of MySpace”. I think this is an overly simplistic conclusion. They are addicted to MySpace layouts. Sure, as a uni student we all feel guilty about indulging in a Facebook tag-fest when we have our exams at 8am tomorrow which our lecturer has posted on Facebook. But this does not mean that we want academia to stay out of Facebook altogether. It simply means that sometimes we resent having to do uni work altogether. For those who deny this, you are clearing lying to yourselves or have never been to uni. I personally think that the integration of our uni life with our social life is an excellent idea.
