The History of Cigar Bars
Cigar bars came into existence in the mid 90’s as a result of smoking bans placed by several cities, states, and governments. They are the last haven for cigar smokers, and for many, cigar bars are the only place where a person can relax, drink a glass of port, and enjoy their favorite brand.
There are several variations on the original theme, depending on where you live. For instance, in London, many restaurants and lounges have utilized their roof top space as a rather creative destination for the city’s cigar aficionados. If you are looking for an establishment that has a more gentleman’s club atmosphere, head to cities such as San Francisco or New York.
Many times these private smoking clubs also offer food and beverages, allowing you to make a full night out of smoking a cigar with your mates after a day filled with work, commutes, and deadlines. There are cigar bars attached to restaurants that serve anything from Japanese food to traditional American barbeque. The more upscale bars will also offer walk in humidors and private locker space for its frequent smokers. If you are a cigarette smoker, there are a few cigar bars that will permit you to patronize their establishment, but they are few and far between.
